He stated that lying on your stomach with one leg bent towards your chest is not beneficial for your body. Admittedly, this isn’t the most natural sleeping posture, but it is helpful to be aware.
He went on: “This is likely the worst sleeping position due to the range of problems it can cause. Lifting one leg while lying down causes the pelvis to shift, applying pressure on the lower back and disturbing spinal alignment.

“Over time, this may lead to stiffness or discomfort. An uneven hip position—where one side is raised while the opposite side stays flat—can create strain in the hip flexors and place uneven pressure on the pelvis.”
If you don’t frequently find yourself in this position, you might think you’re safe from criticism; oh no, no, no…
Mercer listed some concerns related to other sleeping positions, specifically sleeping on your stomach because of the problems it can create for your neck and other areas of your body.
He added: “Sleeping on the stomach also compresses the chest, which can hinder deep breathing and reduce oxygen intake. Moreover, prolonged facial contact with the pillow may lead to skin problems such as breakouts, wrinkles, and puffiness.”
Dr. Mercer remarked: “Sleeping on the left side can alter the position of your heart, elevating the pressure it endures and modifying the heart’s electrical activity.”
Regrettably, the well-informed doctor did not specify the ideal ways to sleep, but a sleep expert known as Levitex on TikTok once addressed that. And I guess if you avoid the worst methods, you’ll be fine… perhaps.
