Right-to-die activist ends life by starving herself to protect kids from seeing ‘the worst disease possible’.

Emma Bray, a loving mom of two and fierce right-to-die advocate from the UK, has sadly passed away — but her legacy of courage and compassion continues to echo far beyond her final days.

Diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) two years ago, Emma knew she was facing a battle with no cure. MND is a devastating neurological condition that gradually robs individuals of muscle control, leading to eventual paralysis. “It’s taken my children’s mum from them little by little,” she shared with The Mirror.

“Imagine seeing your children upset and not being able to hug them.”

Choosing Dignity Over Decline

Emma had been a passionate member of Dignity in Dying, a UK-based group campaigning to legalize assisted dying for mentally competent, terminally ill adults. Sadly, despite growing public support, assisted dying remains illegal in the UK, leaving Emma to make a heartbreaking but deeply personal decision — to stop eating and drinking.

Her reason? Love.
Emma wanted to spare her teenage children the trauma of seeing her deteriorate to the point of being unable to speak or move.

Living Loudly, Until the End

Far from surrendering quietly, Emma lived boldly in her final days. She ticked off items from her bucket list — visiting the Maldives, throwing an “End of Life Party,” and rocking out at an Alanis Morissette concert just days before her passing.

She even planned her own funeral and wrote her own eulogy. On Instagram, she shared:
